Arches was established as a National Monument in 1929 and designated as a National Park in 1971. The park preserves over 76,000 acres of unique geological resources and formations. Over 2,500 arches are found within the park boundaries, the largest concentration of natural stone openings anywhere in the world. In some areas, faulting has exposed millions of years of geologic history.
